The Australian Health Promotion Association (AHPA) welcomes members and the wider health promotion community to our 2010 national conference focused on partnerships.

In the future, to continue to effect change in the health of the population, collaborative partnerships between health promotion practitioners, people working in other sectors and community members are critical for progress.

Australia: The Healthiest Country by 2020 - National Preventive Health Strategy – the roadmap for action, report released in September 2009, provides an opportunity for expansion and broader approaches in health promotion. AHPA’s conference will explore the outcome of recent health sector reviews and discuss the role of partnership-based approaches to health promotion in addressing the challenges posed by Social Determinants of Health.

We welcome you to join us in Melbourne to celebrate successful partnerships and prepare for future partnerships to improve the health of Australians.

The Conference Organising Committee is developing a program that offers a range of formats in which to contribute to the conference including customary oral and poster presentations to more interactive grass roots presentations and round-table discussions.

In the spirit of partnerships, we invite organisations and individuals to plan themed workshops for the conference program. We hope you use your networks, experience and skills to develop an interactive and informative conference workshop for others and submit an expression of interest.
