Welcome to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pre Conference Workshop with the theme “Health Promotion, Our Way- Evidence, Advocacy & Action.”

While we are making progress in health promotion, there is still more to be done especially in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. This is an exciting opportunity for Western Australia as the host of this national event to provide a stimulating program that showcases health promotion programs that embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s approach to health.

This event will provide an opportunity for participants to share knowledge and vision, discover new contacts and networks, rekindle old ones and re-energise discussion and debate regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health nationally. 

The program will provide keynote, concurrent and workshop sessions to appeal to professionals and practitioners from a range of disciplines and work experiences. Participants will be able to share the lessons learned from programs delivered in community settings and to progress the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pre conference workshop steering committee must be acknowledged for their invaluable help in putting together what we hope will be an exciting and enjoyable program.
