*Student Registration
You must be a full time student to qualify for the student rate.  Your registration form must be submitted with a signed letter confirming your full time student status on your educational institution’s letterhead by your lecturer or student administrator. NOTE: Student registration does not include the Conference dinner.

NOTE: The Local Organising Committee is committed to making the Conference accessible to as many students as possible, and encourages submission of students’ work to be presented during the Conference.

Conference venue
The Perth Convention Exhibition Centre opened in 2004, the centre is located within the CBD of Perth and only 12kms from the airport.  Several hotels are located only a short walk from the centre, including the Medina Grand, Sommerset St Georges Terrace, Parmelia Hilton and Rydges.

2009 Eberhard Wenzel Memorial Oration(to occur during Conference Dinner)

Presented by Dr Gauden Galea (via pre-recorded DVD)

The Eberhard Wenzel Memorial Oration was established to maintain Eberhard’s legacy of provocation and challenge. The Oration is an opportunity to present a new or challenging perspective on an issue of relevance to health promotion.  It will be a catalyst for further discussion and debate among health promotion practitioners, researchers and policy makers. 

The Oration will be presented by Dr Gauden Galea who is the Co-ordinator of Health Promotion in the World Health Organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr Galea is a public health physician trained in the University of Malta and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has a special interest in Health Promotion and the prevention of non communicable Diseases. He has held posts as Regional Adviser in NCD in the Western Pacific Region of WHO and as Medical Officer (NCD) in the Pacific Island countries. In his national work before joining WHO in 1998, he headed a national Health Promotion Unit in the Ministry of Health in Malta and directed an Institute of Health Care concerned with the training of health workers. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health of the UK.

Enjoy a casual but intimate dinner in the company of keynote and high profile conference speakers in the spectacular Kings Park.  Guests will have the opportunity to discuss their perspectives on the field of health promotion.  Tickets include a three course meal, drink on arrival and transport from the conference hotels.

Lunch time activities
Do you need to get you body moving after being seated all morning?  Come and 'Find 30' by taking part in a laughter workshop, belly dancing, riverwalk, HeartMoves and stretching classes.  All activities are free for registered delegates and run from 1.00pm - 1.30pm outside the Convention Centre.  Check your program on the day for specific locations.

Kings Park Sunset Walk
Monday 18 May
Enjoy a leisurely 45 minute walk to the scenic Kings park where views of the City and Swan River await.  This guided walk will include a brief history of the area and its cultural heritage.  For those who do not want to walk back public transport is available to take you back to the Convention Centre.  Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear.  Meet outside the main doors at 5.00pm for a 5.15pm departure.

To secure your accommodation at the advertised rates complete the appropriate section of the registration form.  Bookings are subject to availability and should be made prior to Friday 3 April 2009.  All hotels listed have various facilities for people with disabilities, please indicate your requirements on the registration form, or contact Conference Co-ordinators for further information.

All cancellations or amendments must be made in writing to Conference Co-ordinators and will be acknowledged by letter, facsimile or e-mail.

PLEASE NOTE: Your credit card details are required to guarantee your room.  Conference
Co-ordinators nor the hotel will make any charges against your credit card unless you fail to give at least 21 days notice in writing of your cancellation or if less than 21 days prior to arrival your booking is reduced or cancelled in which case full payment will be required unless the room(s) can be resold. Full payment of your account will be required at the time of your departure.

The Parmelia Hilton is centrally located in the heart of the city and is a minute’s walk from the Perth Convention Centre. Facilities include outdoor pool, gym and sauna, laundry service, 24 hour concierge and reception and 24 hour room service. A stylish and relaxed restaurant and bar are also open everyday until late.

Conveniently located only 200 metres from the Convention Centre, the Medina Apartment Hotel offers studios and one-bedroom apartments. Studios are similar to hotel rooms but also contain kitchenette facilities, the apartments contain laundry facilities, full kitchenette and separate lounge and dining area. The hotel’s also offers an outdoor heated swimming pool, sauna and fitness centre.

The Sommerset Hotel is located a short 5 minute walk from the Convention Centre and is a more economical option.  All rooms contain broadband, satellite television stations, mini-bar and air-conditioning. The hotel also features a bar and restaurant that opens up onto St Georges Terrace

The Marque Hotel

The Marque hotel is a 3 ½ star property that is cost effective but still within close vicinity to the Convention Centre.    Each deluxe room has the basic facilities that you would expect including broadband internet facilities and air-conditioning with the additional convenience of a kitchenette.  The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Convention Centre.

Aarons Hotel Perth is a 3 ½ star property that provides a cost effective option while still only being a 15 minute walk from the Convention Centre.  The hotel facilities include: Fully licensed Bar & Restaurant, 24hr guest laundry, Room service and wireless Internet.

An administration charge of $100.00 will be made to any participant cancelling before Friday 3 April 2009. 

After Friday 3 April any cancellations received will be required to pay full registration fees (NOTE: this includes cancellations of registrations and social function bookings).  However, if you are unable to attend, substitutes are welcome at no additional cost.
