The Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) 2010 Conference

2010 National Conference
26 – 30 September 2010

We have great pleasure in inviting your participation in the 16th Biennial AAEE Conference.

The Association aims to deliver a conference that:

  • Supports government and non-government organisations to deliver programs/initiatives that achieve positive environmental change
  • Brings together the education, environment and business sectors to support a green skilled workforce
  • Encourages youth (15 -25) to come together and develop an agreed vision for a sustainable future
  • Showcases organisations and individuals that demonstrate leadership in reducing their footprint at work, home and play
  • Creates dialogue for leadership at the interface of the disciplines of health, education and environment on the impacts of climate change
  • Provides direction for the second half of the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable Development - where do we want to be in 2014?
  • Is of low environmental impact

Five key themes have been identified that will provide broad coverage of environmental education and its economic, political and social importance to communities.

The conference offers participants from government and non-government organisations a robust and dynamic forum where they can exchange ideas, experiences and research to build the capacity of people to innovate and implement solutions.

The intention is to facilitate meaningful learning and real outcomes in a participative way through reflective dialogue and panel forums as well as a wide variety of field trips and interactive workshops.

Prominent keynote speakers will lead discussion on the conference themes. They will be supported by presentations from selected abstracts.

The conference will be held at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, the National Capital of Australia which is a perfect venue for any conference. The conference coincides with Floriade, Australia’s premier spring festival where over one million blooms create a stunning backdrop to a month long festival filled with music, cultural celebrations, artistic displays, entertainment and recreational activities.

We urge you to submit an abstract as soon as possible and look forward to meeting you in 2010.
