Message from the Executive

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the Inaugural CHASS National Forum, “The Human Dimension: Humanities, Arts and Social Science Disciplines in Australian Lives.”

CHASS believes that now, more than ever, it is critical to support and invest in our knowledge of the human experience. In the words of our keynote speaker, Lars Klüver, current global challenges are ‘shaking the foundations’ of our way of life, and while many see technology and science as the holding the answers to these challenges, it is human resilience and adaptation – the central questions of the humanities, arts and social science sector – that hold the key to a sustainable future.

We invite you to participate in ‘the human dimension’ of knowledge by attending the CHASS National Forum.

Forum speakers include:

Lars Klüver, Director, The Danish Board of Technology

Harsh Shrivastava, Consultant to the Planning Commission of India
Kathe Kirby, Executive Director, Asia Education Foundation
Waleed Aly, Broadcaster, author and academic
Mark Stafford Smith, CSIRO Climate Change Program
