Research Centre
While in Canberra, many conference delegates choose to visit the Memorial Research Centre’s Reading Room to access our collections. The Reading Room is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4.50 pm and on Saturdays from 1 pm to 4.50 pm. As the Research Centre can experience large increases in visitors during Memorial conferences, we strongly encourage you to pre-plan your visit. Please contact the Research Centre at least two weeks in advance of your visit to ensure the collections you wish to view will be available. Note that some collections are held off-site or may be otherwise unavailable.

Last Post Ceremonies Tuesday 19 July 2016 There are two commemorative ceremonies framing the conference; the first will be the Last Post Ceremony to mark the centenary of the battle of Fromelles, the Australian's tragic initiation in to warfare on the Western Front. The stories behind two names on the Roll of Honour will be told on this day, brothers that tragically last their lives together, Private David Barr and Private Colin Campbell Barr (links provided for more information).
Saturday 23 July 2016 Time: 4.45pm (commencing at 4.55pm) The second ceremony will mark the centenary of the battle of Pozieres, Australian's most costly battle in the Somme. Ivor Stephan Margetts will be honoured on this day (links provided for more information).
